About me
Hi! My name is Destini Moore, and I am a Resident-in-Counseling at Neutral Ground Counseling Group. I have recently completed my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A./Ed.S.).
As a counselor, I am dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and judgment-free space where clients can be themselves. I strive to create a supportive environment where people feel comfortable exploring their experiences and moving toward meaningful change.
As a person of color, I understand the importance of being seen and understood, encompassing your whole identity. I am passionate about providing support and creating an environment that acknowledges and validates the unique experiences that come with navigating intersecting identities. I’m committed to making therapy a place where all identities and backgrounds are welcomed and celebrated. As an active ally to the LGBTQ+ community, I work to ensure every client feels respected and free to be their authentic self.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, collecting vinyl records, and traveling.

My Approach to Therapy
Clinical Training and Supervision
I provide therapy for teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore experiences, strengthen communication, and develop new ways of understanding yourself and your relationships.
Clients often seek therapy with me for support with:
• anxiety and chronic stress
• depression
• relationship and communication challenges
• life transitions
• identity exploration
My approach to therapy is grounded in constructivist and person-centered frameworks, helping clients explore the meaning they make of their experiences while developing greater self-understanding and self-compassion.
In our work together, we may also draw from narrative and strength-based approaches to better understand personal stories and identify the strengths that support growth and resilience. When working with couples, I incorporate elements of the Gottman Method to support communication, deepen understanding, and help partners navigate challenges in their relationship.
My goal is to create a collaborative and supportive space where clients feel safe exploring their experiences and building meaningful change.
As a Resident-in-Counseling, Destini is completing the supervised clinical hours required for independent licensure in Virginia.
At Neutral Ground Counseling Group, residents-in-counseling receive ongoing supervision from Sally Harney, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS, ensuring thoughtful clinical guidance and high-quality care.
Therapy available in-person in Fairfax, VA and online throughout Virginia.
