Counseling Services for Transgender & Gender Diverse Individuals in Virginia

Gender diverse person reading in bed, living a full life after receiving therapy at Neutral Ground Counseling Group

At Neutral Ground Counseling Group®, we strive to provide a positive therapeutic environment where our transgender and gender diverse clients feel supported, affirmed, and respected for who they are.

We support our clients through their unique path of transition to living authentically. We seek to empower our clients to feel positive about who they are. We provide coping strategies for depression, anxiety, relationship and/or family issues, and other mental health issues that arise due to barriers experienced by transgender and gender diverse people.

We are able to offer our clients support letters for medical transition and referrals to trusted and affirming resources in the DC metro area.

Conversion/Reparative Therapy Policy

Neutral Ground Counseling Group® is strongly opposed to conversion and reparative therapy. We believe that conversion therapy causes harm to individuals. Decades of research have consistently found that efforts to change or suppress a person's sexual orientation or gender identity are associated with increased psychological distress and have not been demonstrated to be an effective therapeutic intervention. Consistent with the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association, we do not provide conversion or reparative therapy as a treatment option.
