Therapy for Teens in Virginia
Let's all admit to one thing: being a teenager is hard.
It's a time in life where everything and everyone is changing at a rapid pace. The challenges that teenagers face sometimes are too much for a person to carry when they don't feel supported at home or feel alone in a school full of people their own age.
Depression, anxiety, self-loathing, low self-worth, being bullied, dealing with stressors of school responsibilities, suicidal ideation, gender identity questioning, and family separation issues are just a few common themes amongst teenagers today.
At Neutral Ground Counseling Group, we strive to provide a supportive therapeutic environment for teens to be seen and heard.
We offer a place for teens and parents to have open conversations on a neutral ground.
We offer the opportunity for teens to have the therapeutic support they seek while they sort out the situations they find themselves in or deal with the overload of emotions they can't seem to handle on their own.

When working with teen clients, it often becomes necessary to involve the parents in one way or another. Whether it’s offering them a progress update or mediating a session where important subject matter is disclosed and discussed, our therapists are adept at handling the many perspectives present in a family session.

Yes, we do.
For teen LGBTQIAP+ clients and their parents, we help families deal with issues like hormone blockers, queer sexuality, disagreements between parents or parent and child about the timeline of a medical transition, and navigating all aspects of these tricky waters.
Our team considers our role as "slowing the train down so everybody can get on board."
