Licensed Therapist / Resident-in-Counseling

Neutral Ground Counseling Group® is seeking independently licensed mental health clinicians and Residents-in-Counseling to join our group practice in Fairfax, Virginia.

We are looking for clinicians who value high-quality, ethical, and affirming mental health care and who want to be part of a collaborative group practice. Our clinicians work with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds, with a strong practice commitment to serving LGBTQIA2+ clients, including transgender and gender-diverse individuals.

Positions are primarily in person at our Fairfax office, with opportunities to provide some services via telehealth.

We welcome clinicians with established areas of expertise as well as Residents who are continuing to develop their clinical interests and professional identities.

QUALIFICATIONS

All Clinicians

  • Master’s degree or higher in counseling or a related behavioral health field

  • Eligible to practice clinically in the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Strong clinical, communication, and documentation skills

  • Commitment to ethical, inclusive, and affirming mental health care

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a group practice

  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and meet clinical and administrative responsibilities

  • Willingness to provide primarily in-person services from our Fairfax office

Independently Licensed Clinicians

Candidates must hold a current, unrestricted Virginia license as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other independently licensed behavioral health professional appropriate to the position.

Residents in Counseling

Candidates must be eligible for or currently approved as a Resident-in-Counseling by the Virginia Board of Counseling.

Residents receive the clinical supervision required toward Virginia LPC licensure as part of their employment with NGCG.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a clinician at Neutral Ground Counseling Group®, you will:

  • Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy based on your clinical training, competence, and areas of interest

  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required clinical documentation accurately and on time

  • Maintain an appropriate caseload and manage your clinical schedule responsibly

  • Communicate with clients and coordinate care with other providers when clinically appropriate

  • Follow ethical standards, legal requirements, and NGCG clinical policies and procedures

  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical consultation, and other required professional activities

  • Maintain applicable licensure, residency, and continuing education requirements

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training

  • Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and affirming practice environment

SCHEDULE & POSITION EXPECTATIONS

This is an in-person position based at our Fairfax, Virginia office, with flexibility to provide some services via telehealth.

Clinicians work with NGCG to establish a consistent schedule that supports both their caseload and the needs of the practice. Availability during higher-demand appointment times, including some afternoon and evening hours, may be needed as a caseload develops.

Both full-time and part-time opportunities may be available depending on the needs of the practice and the clinician’s availability.

Clinicians are expected to maintain a consistent schedule, manage their caseload responsibly, and complete required clinical and administrative responsibilities within established timeframes.
