Practice Manager
Susan Downhower, M.A.
About me
Hi. My name is Susan Downhower. I began as the Human Resources Consultant here at Neutral Ground Counseling Group and am now proud to be the Practice Manager. My pronouns are she/her/hers. Outside of work, you will find me sharing my space with four furry companions – two 13-year-old and two 6-year-old cats. I enjoy indulging in my creative side through painting and crafting. My green thumb has me tending to and transforming my garden to match each holiday's spirit. Also, I’m a proud parent of two thriving adults.
If you did a double take on my photo, your eyes do not need adjusting. Dr. Sally Harney is my twin sister.
What I do and who I work with
From onboarding new talent to managing billing processes, my role as a Practice Manager has me working in the world of back-office administration. With a rich tapestry of experiences and a passion for creating order behind the scenes, my goal is to ensure that every aspect of Neutral Ground Counseling Group’s operation runs smoothly, so our clinical team can focus on providing the best care to our clients.
My journey to HR Consulting
My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in business administration management from the University of Denver. With a master’s degree in education from the University of Colorado at Denver, specializing in mathematics, I've always had a passion for helping others learn and grow. I furthered my education through earning an Early Childhood Education Director and Teacher certification from Arapahoe Community College and a Paralegal Certification from the Denver Paralegal Institute. It is not a surprise that I dedicated the last two decades of my life to the field of education. With a Human Resources Management certification from California State University, Fullerton, I decided to step back from teaching and pursue a consultant role, which utilizes my leadership, management, and organizational skills.
